Austin Edwards
Microscopy Specialist
Expert in high-dimensional microscopy data analysis
Austin received his B.S. in Bioengineering from Rice University. Following undergrad, Austin researched neural mechanisms of social and vision-related behavior in adult Drosophila Melanogaster using thermogenetic, optogenetic, and computer vision techniques at the HHMI Janelia Research Campus in Ashburn, VA. At UCSF, Austin is currently investigating patterns of spatial organization of immune cells within and proximal to the tumor microenvironment in multiplexed immunofluorensce images. As a core member of the BIDC, Austin trains and assists researchers in confocal and two-photon microscopy and image analysis. Outside of work, Austin enjoys seeing live music and hiking the beautiful trails around the San Francisco Bay Area.
